What to expect

Aniplex describes Record as a full reconstruction of Fate/Extra, with renewed character graphics, expanded storytelling and a different approach to combat. The player enters a digital tournament as a Master who must form a contract with a Servant. Learning an opponent’s identity helps expose strengths and weaknesses, while exploring the Arena develops your own partner before the decisive encounter. The setting combines a lunar supercomputer with a conflict over a wish-granting prize.

Before choosing an edition

The practical change for returning players is the customizable Command Card deck. Attacks, defensive options and special skills fill different roles, while exploration and powerful enemies provide more Commands. Choosing a Servant therefore affects the tactics available, not just the character standing beside you. The announcement confirms the PlayStation versions listed here and distinguishes the Digital Deluxe extras from the base game; it does not make those cosmetic and digital additions prerequisites for the main story.
