Metro 2039: February release date, platforms and regional timing

METRO 2039 is scheduled for February 4, 2027 on PC, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S.

Gameplay and key changes

The next standalone Metro game returns to the underground world of Moscow, with a voiced protagonist known as the Stranger. 4A Games combines its first-person combat with exploration and environmental storytelling, using its own engine for the ruined city and enclosed tunnels. This is a new campaign, distinct from the technical update released for Metro Redux, even though that update offers another way to revisit the series before the sequel.

Release details and buying advice

The publisher gives February 4 as the main launch date, with February 5 applying in some territories, including Asia, Australia and New Zealand. Check the regional store listing rather than treating one date as a universal local unlock time. Technical claims also need their platform context: footage captured on a particular console does not establish identical settings or performance on every PC and console configuration.
