Gameplay and key changes
Square Enix rebuilds the RPG with three-dimensional environments and a flexible story structure. You choose a protagonist and shape the journey through the places you visit, the allies you recruit and the decisions you make. Timeline-based battles add planning around turn order, while formations affect how party members perform. New techniques can emerge during combat through the series’ Glimmer system.
Release details and buying advice
The difficulty can be changed during play, and the soundtrack can switch between original compositions and new arrangements. These are useful choices for newcomers as well as returning players. February 16 is the main release date; the Asian announcement lists February 17 for Steam. Pre-ordering Digital Deluxe can provide up to 72 hours of early access, so an earlier storefront date should not be confused with the ordinary edition’s launch.
